I've been involved in a bunch of illustrative and journalism projects. On this page, you'll find a few of what I've been involved in.
Science Journal Cover: Developmental Cell
Corin reached out to me to create a cover image of his lab's accepted research paper in the highly prestigious science journal, Cell. He wanted something humorous and light hearted so, over Zoom calls, we sat down and went over a few of the ideas I had. After a few amendments, and his supverisor's approval, the final piece was submitted and - amazingly - selected to be on the cover!
It was a huge pleasure to work on this with the team - what an achievement they made!
You can read the Moorthy et al paper and others covered in the issue here:
British Research Council, Great Ormond Street Hospital
For a whole 3 months, I was lucky enough to intern in the PR and Research and Innovations team at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.
There, I teamed up with their in-house filmmaker, Maisie Hardy, and created BRC theme logos and this gorgeous little animated film about a new science technology (cancer treatment) called base editing called CAR-T cell therapy!
If you're lucky, you might see it playing in person on the entrance screens at the children's hospital :)
MyUCL News
Every week, University College London's PR release an online newsletter to all its students and members, informing them of university-wide (and worldwide!) news. My job as a student journalist was to propose and execute a series of articles along with illustrations. Below are a few examples:
UCL Student Support and Wellbeing
University College London's Student Support and Wellbeing team do a SUPER IMPORTANT job of safeguarding UCL students whilst at university as well as helping them out when unfortunate things do happen. The SSW place a huge importance on reaching out to their students and one way they do that is through their blog. As an illustrator, I was hired to produce the illustrations up on there (as well as design their badges and other merchandise!), but the real gold is in the advice and guidelines they share on there. I collaborate often with the team.
Above is a photo of a few of the badges I designed for the team at UCL. These are handed out throughout the year at welcome fares and at student support stalls.
Inspirited Minds: Mindful Bubbles
Inspirited Minds is a London-based Mental Health Charity that works with minor ethnic communities through educating them on the realities of mental health and training religious leaders to better deal with mental illness. As their illustrator, I created a series of mental health related story posts that were uploaded to their website monthly and sent out in their weekly newsletter emails. The series was named 'Mindful Bubbles' and, over time, gained popularity. Aside from online illustrations, I also held an illustration workshop for anyone who wanted to learn how to tell their own stories through art.
